This is a series of embroidered portraits in traditional colours, inspired by Ukrainian fairytales. A good example for this type of folklore is a tail of the fox, the cat and the cock: “Котик та пiвник”, which I used as an audio source for the portrait of the granny. I used a simple recording devise for personalised postcards and resoldered some connections. The speaker is hidden behind the sunflower and the play button is incorporated in the wreath. The fox portrait has an incorporated stroke sensor on the goose (inspired by the wonderful KOBAKANT). Once you stroke the goose, the fox’s eyes light up. And the cock’s eyes light up in the same manner when you move the clock arm around.
This work was created for a group charity exhibition: all money from the sold artwork was donated to support the refugees in Ukraine.
